Staff Platform Engineer
About this role
Accountabilities
In this role, you will lead the design and evolution of foundational platform systems while driving architectural direction across multiple teams and services. You will be responsible for shaping long-term infrastructure strategy and enabling engineering teams to build and operate scalable systems efficiently.
• Define and lead the architecture of core platform infrastructure, including container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud systems
• Drive cross-functional technical strategy and identify high-impact investments across engineering teams
• Build and evolve shared platform abstractions, tools, and frameworks that improve developer velocity and consistency
• Improve engineering practices related to reliability, deployment, incident response, and system scalability
• Lead prioritization of technical debt and infrastructure initiatives aligned with product and business goals
• Support and lead resolution of complex production incidents and system-wide issues
• Mentor engineers across the organization and elevate technical design and operational standards
Requirements
This position requires strong experience in large-scale infrastructure engineering, with the ability to operate at both deep technical and architectural levels. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading ambiguous, cross-team initiatives and influencing engineering direction in complex environments.
• Proven experience designing and operating large-scale, production-critical infrastructure systems, ideally with Kubernetes
• Strong background in infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD systems, and platform engineering practices
• Advanced software engineering skills, preferably in Go or similar systems programming languages
• Deep understanding of systems fundamentals including networking (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS), Linux, and distributed systems
• Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives from conception through execution
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to influence engineers and leadership
• Ability to think at a systems level and make architectural decisions with long-term impact
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving engineering excellence across teams
