POSITION TITLE: Systems Engineer
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Systems Engineer, you'll be part of a team supporting end users, maintaining facility infrastructure, keeping production operations equipment and workflows running, and collaborating with IT colleagues in other regions around the globe on shared projects.
We're looking for someone with strong technical chops who can also communicate clearly and work effectively with operation and production teams to be their main point of contact for IT support when issues come up, or any changes being considered and made that could impact them. This role reports to the VP, Technology & Security Transformation and is located in Tokyo, Japan.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage both physical and virtual systems, as well as storage across the facility
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues end-to-end
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux (predominately RHEL derivatives), Windows servers, as well as Windows and OSX workstations
• Troubleshoot networking issues and coordinate and collaborate with network engineers as needed. Serve as remote hands for network team as needed for the facility
• Document recurring issues and procedures so the wider support team can benefit and assist remotely
• Rack, cable, install, move, and configure equipment in the server room.
• Partner with Production and Operations teams on change management and issue resolution
• Ensure technical security and compliance requirements for the facility are met and maintained, coordinating with global Security teams as required
• Collaborate with peers on the global Technology team on cross-regional projects
• Participate with global team across all regions to assist remotely supporting to fill their after-hours and holidays
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, MIS, or equivalent work experience in supporting post-production workflows
• Minimum 3 years of related IT experience
• Prior experience managing virtual server environments (VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V)
• Experience managing a shared storage solution (scale-out NAS or SAN)
• Working experience administering Linux servers (basic to intermediate)
• Working experience administering Windows servers and workstations (intermediate or more)
• Comfortable with Active Directory and M365
• Understanding of networking concepts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
• Native level Japanese, business level English communication skills
ABOUT YOU:
• Prior experience in post-production, broadcast, VFX, or another media/creative environment
• Industry certifications related to Technology or Cybersecurity focus areas
• Scripting experience to help streamline tasks
• Experience managing public cloud resources and services
• Any prior experience facilitating media and entertainment compliance audits
• Must be eligible to work in Japan
