Vision and Hearing Screening Assistant

Job Description:

Coordination and implementation of universal vision and hearing screening, including scheduling, testing, compilation, and maintenance of test results.. Provides vision screenings and Tier 1 hearing screenings to district students including follow-up of referred students. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school stakeholders. Essential Physical Requirements: ● Occasional lifting five (5) to ten (10) pounds ● Frequent sitting ● Occasional bending, squatting, or standing ● Must be able and willing to obtain other certifications required for the position, including CPI certification

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

Responsibilities:

Train and oversee volunteers as needed in screening protocols and use of screening equipment.

Manage vision and hearing screening equipment, including maintenance, delivery, and set-up at various district sites, trouble shooting, and annual calibration in collaboration with district nurse consultants and audiologists.

Process and input student vision and hearing screening results within student data/district software systems/processes.

Follow up of referred students with parents, nurses, audiologists and all stakeholders

Perform data queries, and respond to requests for student data required for various district, state and student reports.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Collaborate with schools to schedule and coordinate vision and hearing screenings for students.

Perform vision and hearing screenings in compliance with policies and guidelines outlined by the Colorado Department of Education including collaboration with district School Nurse Consultants and district Audiologists.

High School or Equivalent (Required)

Skills:

Ability to effectively utilize vision and hearing testing devices, Computer applications skills: Microsoft Office, Google, Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support positive outcomes, Has the ability to effectively communicate with the school district community, Has the ability to lead volunteers, Has the ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision., Has the ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions, Has the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers., Is flexible., Maintains a generally positive attitude., Observes all District policies and procedures., Problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills, Required to travel around district using personal vehicle., Strong organizational and time management skills, Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions

• All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
